Assemblymember Quirk Issues Update on Derailment of ACE Train in Sunol

SACRAMENTO – Around 7:00pm last night, an Altamont Cooridor Express (ACE) commuter train derailed in Sunol. There were 214 passengers on the train and I can only imagine the fear and anxiety that they all felt during and after this incident. Nine passengers were injured and were transported to local hospitals, the rest of the passengers were transported to the Alameda County Fairgrounds where rescue organizations, including the Red Cross, were available to assist.

While the cause of the derailment is still under investigation, preliminary investigation suggests that a mudslide caused this incident.
