Financial scams and abuses that target older people are happening more and more, and can lead to serious financial harm. You, your family, and friends are invited to a FREE Senior Scam Stopper Seminar in my district. At this event, you will learn from expert speakers from state agencies about how to protect yourself or your loved ones from the latest scams.

My office is partnering with the Office of the Small Business Advocate (CalOSBA), the East Bay Small Business Development Center (SBDC), and the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz) to provide you with a FREE informational seminar covering the topics of business planning, state lending options, growth and market strategies, and resources available to small businesses.

Our small businesses are vital to the economic prosperity of California. Unfortunately, small businesses are increasingly the target of malicious cyber activity and fraud. Thousands of small businesses have been harmed by cyber attacks, with small businesses being three times more likely to be targeted by cybercriminals. In 2021, the total cost of cybercrimes to small businesses reached $2.4 billion.

I am excited to partner with the Castro Valley/Eden Area Chamber of Commerce to host a Cyber Crime Informational Seminar. In this seminar, our guest from the FBI will share important steps you can take to safeguard yourself and your business against cyber crimes and online fraud. We hope to see you there!

I am deeply concerned about the threat that the opioid crisis poses to our communities. Fentanyl, a powerful synthetic opioid, is now responsible for more deaths than any other drug in the United States. In response to recent fentanyl busts in Hayward and San Leandro, my office is taking action to educate residents of AD-20 and pass legislation that saves lives.

I am writing to invite you to an educational event about this issue at 2pm on Saturday, March 25th, at the Hayward Public Library. Come hear from experts about how local agencies are combating the crisis and available resources, as well as an update on proposed legislation to protect our community.
