California Cannabis Industry Association Names Assemblymember Quirk “Legislator of the Year” for his Advocacy on Cannabis Issues
SACRAMENTO – Assemblymember Bill Quirk (D-Hayward) is named “Legislator of the Year” by the California Cannabis Industry Association (CCIA).
“Assemblymember Quirk has given me advice for years. Anytime there is legislation impacting the cannabis industry, he always wants to know how CCIA feels about it,” said Nate Bradley, Executive Director of CCIA, before presenting Assemblymember Quirk with the award.
“I remember when I was the only legislator who was vocal about supporting cannabis. I’m glad that has changed. I want to thank CCIA for this award and thank you for all the work you do. It matters to me to know what your thoughts and concerns are on issues impacting your industry. Continue to speak collectively and know that I will continue to help the industry however I can. I am proud of this award,” said Assemblymember Quirk upon receiving this recognition.
Elected in 2012, Bill Quirk brings his PhD in astrophysics and career as an educator and scientist to the State Assembly. He is Chair of the Assembly Committee on Environmental Safety and Toxic Materials. He is a member of the Agriculture, Public Safety, Revenue and Taxation, and Utilities and Energy Committees. He is also Chair of the Select-Committee on California’s Clean Energy Economy.
