Assemblymember Quirk Brings Free Vision Care to the Children and Families of REACH Ashland Youth Center

Tuesday, May 2, 2017

HAYWARD – Assemblymember Bill Quirk (D-Hayward), in partnership with REACH Ashland Youth Center and VSP, provided FREE vision exams and glasses to over 50 children and families.

“REACH provides a wide variety of programs and services to youth – from job training to dance and music courses. All programs are provided free of charge. They have been providing opportunities to the youth of the Ashland community since 2013 and I am honored to partner with them by bringing critically needed vision services,” said Assemblymember Quirk.

Since his election to the Assembly in 2012, Assemblymember Quirk has partnered with VSP to bring vision care services to underserved children and families in his district. VSP is a vision care insurance provider whose mission is to bring visual wellness through affordable, accessible, and high quality eye care insurance. Their mobile services are transforming the quality of life for many children and families across the nation.

“Proper vision care is essential for the completion of everyday activities – from reading a book to playing a game of basketball. More importantly, regular eye checkups help detect early signs of other health problems – such as diabetes or high blood pressure,” Assemblymember Quirk affirmed.
