SACRAMENTO – The California Association of Certified Unified Program Agencies (CUPA) named Assemblymember Bill Quirk (D-Hayward) as their 2019 Legislator of the Year. The award was revealed at the 21st Unified Program Training Conference during their Leadership Session at opening ceremony in Anaheim Marriott.
“I am truly humbled and thankful to be recognized by the CUPA Forum Board. Californians are protected from hazardous waste and materials by laws implemented by the CUPAs, and as Chair of the Environmental Safety and Toxic Materials Committee, I work to improve these protections,” Assemblymember Bill Quirk stated upon learning about his recognition.
"Assemblymember Quirk has consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to protecting public health, safety, and the environment by helping to ensure the efficient and effective implementation of the Unified Program. On behalf of the local fire and environmental health professionals that protect the public day-in and day-out, we have commended Dr. Quirk for his support of our work,” said Darwin Cheng, Chair of the CUPA Forum Board.
