Assemblymember Quirk Honors Hayward Area Historical Society as Non Profit of the Year
SACRAMENTO – Assemblymember Bill Quirk (D-Hayward) honored the Hayward Area Historical Society as the 2017 Non Profit of the Year for the 20th Assembly District.
The Hayward Area Historical Society was founded in 1956 and has focused on documenting the history of the city of Hayward and adjacent communities – San Lorenzo, Ashland, Cherryland, Castro Valley, Fairview and other parts of unincorporated Alameda County.
“For the last 60 years, the Hayward Area Historical Society has been an important asset to the community. Historical treasurers and landmarks would have been lost without the dedication of the society,” Assemblymember Quirk said. “Further, they take great pride in making the information available to schools, residents and the larger community via temporary and permanent exhibits, tours, classroom presentations and film festivals.”
The Hayward Area Historical Society manages the HAHS Museum of History and Culture, the McConaghy House, Meek Mansion and the San Lorenzo Pioneer Cemetery.
