Come find true love this Valentine’s Day at the Hayward Animal Shelter!

I am proud to partner once again with the Hayward Animal Shelter Volunteers to host our Annual All Fur Love Pet Adoption Day.

There will be a reduced cost for pet adoptions to qualified homes! Also, in honor of the 24th Annual World Spay Day we will be offering vouchers for free & reduced cost spay/neutering services for existing pet owners. The shelter will also be taking donations for those who already have furry companions and would like to take a photo at the Valentine's Day themed photo booth. My dog, Luna, and I make this an annual tradition and hope you can join us.

California offers ways to help you and your family afford college:

Cal Grant Financial Aid Program - Guarantees financial aid based on need to every qualified student who applies.

Middle Class Scholarship - This program, recently created by the Legislature, significantly reduces fees at the California State University and University of California for families who qualify.

In order to qualify, students must fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the California Dream Act Application by March 2, 2018.

The California Student Aid Commission is offering free workshops to help students complete their application. At these workshops, advisors will be available to discuss financial aid opportunities and assist students with completing the FAFSA form. There will be several workshops throughout our area. My office will be co-hosting two of the upcoming Cash for College events.
