Please join me, Caltrans District 4 Director Tony Tavares, Alameda County Supervisor Nate Miley, the Alameda County Arts Commission, and others in celebrating the completion of the Ashland and Cherryland Community Identifier Murals along the I-238 overpass.

These beautiful murals were proposed by local community members in Ashland and Cherryland who wanted to highlight the pride we have in our community. Under the leadership of the Alameda County Board of Supervisors the Alameda County Arts Commission led a multiphase process to work with Caltrans and the Alameda County Public Works Department to gain approval for the painting of the murals. Community members were involved every step of the way from providing input to picking the art created by artist, Nico Berry, which feature images of the Oregon ash tree and cherry blossoms which represents the namesakes of our communities.
