Legislative Internship Program

The Office of Assemblymember Bill Quirk  accepts applications for unpaid Legislative Internships in the Sacramento Capitol Office and Hayward District Office on a rolling basis. The goal of the Legislative Internship program is to provide well-rounded, hands-on experience working in a state legislative office.  

We accommodate interns with a flexible schedule; however, we ask for a minimum commitment of ten hours per week. The office will work with applicants who are requesting to receive undergraduate/graduate credit or high school community service credits. Internship terms will be determined based on the availability and needs of the office.

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with data entry
  • Researching legislation
  • Drafting letters and correspondence
  • Responding to constituent requests and assisting with constituent casework
  • Working with staff on special projects and assignments
  • Attending and helping organize district events

How to Apply:

  • Resume: must not exceed 2 pages in length. Resume must include education and employment history, extracurricular activities, and volunteer activities. Include any awards, honors or publications.
  • Cover letter: The cover letter serves as your writing sample. It must indicate why you are interested in working in the office of the Assemblymember Bill Quirk. It must also indicate your availability and the intended duration of your internship, including start and end date.
