California's Water Crisis
Even though this has been a wet year, California experienced a serious drought. 2013 was the driest year in our state’s recorded history and reservoirs fell below average. Almost 99% of California was considered abnormally dry or worse; almost two-thirds of the state was in extreme drought.
My colleagues in the State Assembly and I worked to develop a water bond proposal which was passed by voters in November 2014. The bond included funding for improving drinking water quality, protecting rivers and watersheds, improving the reliability of clean water delivery, protecting the state’s Delta water system, and funding storage projects that will protect us from future droughts.
I commend the constituents of the 20th Assembly District for the efforts to reduce water use. For detailed water conservation tips, visit www.saveourh2o.org.
